LEGAL
Privacy Policy
Last updated June 13, 2026.
Perseus is a codebase-search retrieval engine built by Efficient Systems (legal name "efficient systems inc."). This policy explains what we collect, how we handle your code, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, not to cover us.
What we collect
We collect what we need to run the service for you:
- Account details: your name, email, and the credentials you use to sign in and call the API.
- Repository metadata: information about the repositories you index, such as their names, sizes, file paths, and when they were last indexed.
- Usage data: basic logs of your queries and requests so we can operate the service and debug problems.
How we handle your code
When you index a repository, we process and store its contents so we can answer your retrieval queries. Your code is used for one purpose: to power retrieval for you.
- We do not use your code or your queries to train models. Not ours, not anyone else's.
- Your code is processed only to serve your own requests. Queries read your indexed code and return ranked results back to you.
- We retain your indexed code and metadata while your account is active so retrieval stays fast. When you delete a repository or your account, we remove the associated index.
Where data is processed
We run on reputable cloud infrastructure. We use a small number of subprocessors to operate the service, such as our hosting and model providers. They process data on our instructions and only as needed to run Perseus.
Security
We encrypt data in transit and at rest and keep customer indexes logically separated. For details, see the Security page.
Your choices
You can ask us to export your data or delete it. Email us and we will handle the request. Deleting a repository removes its index; deleting your account removes your data.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as Perseus grows. If we make a material change, we will note it here and update the date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
